From Away – Our road trip to Maine

In Maine, everyone who’s not from Maine is “from away”. Quite a blow to my NJ-NYC ego. But once you see the glinting vast miles of coastline, experience the invigorating “warm cold”, look down from a cliff and witness the dozens of boats in a cove resting on the water, and taste the clawed & shelled fresh sea fares, you completely understand why Maine is the only world that matters to its inhabitants.

The etiquette of the townspeople seem to be to wave at strangers, and move along. We followed the the sunny coastline and soaked up the sun. We drove by one art store after another after another after another. We walked the city past art stores, old photo shops, and coffee shops. Nice people, a beautiful environment, great food, and art. What more do you need?

Leaving Maine

Leaving Maine, just outside of Portland. A hundred birds say goodbye to those of us from away.
