Anyway, I finally came up with something today and recorded it on my iPhone.

Here’s a demo (I repeat, DEMO.) of a song I’m calling “Cambias”.

Someone shuts you out. They won’t talk to you; they want to forget you. You have this bizarre reaction and you just forget your pride. You do anything you can to make this person let you in again. You show them how much you love them. You’re almost desperate.

HONESTLY, it’s not a reaction I normally have. I’m normally the fine and slam the door back in your face type.
But when something’s important to you, you do anything to hold on to it. When it’s not that important to you, you’re the person on the other side of this song. Oh snap.

I wrote this song a long time ago when I was really codependent, so don’t judge me, ok? Haha. Anyway, the song still has its value. Time to time, it gets stuck in my head. So despite the crappy guitar, the simple progression, and the fact that it was all for a long lost cause, I thought I’d share it. Like any song, I hope you can relate to it.

This album has got to be good!   (I also love the aesthetic of the vulture head.) New Fang sounds like QOTSA, but when you look at the lineup, it makes sense.The composition of the band is basically  QOTSA but with John Paul Jones added to the lineup. However, I have heard that their sound definitely parts from QOTSA, although to me, it probably won’t matter. I love them already.

No tour dates are listed for NY on their website.  If anyone hears any different, do enlighten me.

My band is playing a Mischief Night gig on Friday at Uncle Mike’s in downtown NYC at 10! Hope you all can come. We’ll be dressed as the Addams Family!

Here’s a music video I thought I’d share since it’s appropriately creepy for the holiday! It’s a song called Goodnight Moon by a band called Shivaree. Another version of this song can be found on the Kill Bill soundtrack. The lead singer, Ambrosia Parsely,  really inspires me to sing with a sultry, light voice.  The song and the arrangement makes me want to try and write with a more laidback vibe. Can’t wait to work on some new music!

For today’s blog, I thought I’d share a demo I wrote back when the band was just forming, and I was just playing in comfy coffee joints. It’s one of my favorite demos, because it’s so breezy. I also imagined having a cool girl band to play along with it. (Any volunteers?) Listening to my old demos inspires me to write new songs, not just for the band. A goal of mine is to start a new music project with my husband and really stretch ourselves as musicians. Enjoy!
